Brad, the programmer at TWR, is keeping an eye on this blog, and finds it interesting how a newcomer views things here. He noticed my comments about the Casablanca Argentinian supper yesterday. I'll have to make this sort of "Dean's Bonairian Restaurant Guide."
I wish I knew the lingo to write restaurant reviews New York-style. The filet mignon with the black pepper and red wine sauce was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. However, the waiter got a pawltry tip. He brought out a bread plate, but I never got any bread, and I never got any salad dressings for the micro-salad that was on the dinner plate, along with rice and sort of an au-gratin potatoes. I noticed that everyone else had bread and salad dressings. My drink (passion fruit daquiri) only came very late, at the time the dinner came, and no one came around with water until I was ready for the bill. So the guy didn't get much tip-wise. The place was busy, and I think as the single guy sitting in the corner I was not seen as all that important. The food was really good, though.
Oh, and Brad -- a couple tips on food at the Divi Flamingo resort across the street from me: Tuesdays there's an all-you-can-eat taco bar (haven't tried it yet) for $12, if I remember correctly, and $2.5o margaritas. Thursday is a pasta buffet, which was basic, but O.K. for I think $12 as well. Saturday night there's a BBQ buffet, but that was something like $16.50 -- ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw -- the usual.

Thanks for the Divi food tips. We've enjoyed their special Christmas buffet the last two years. Frozen turkeys (kalakuna) are very expensive here, so the buffet works out ok pricewise for two people.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to check out the Tuesday evening beach barbeque at the Plaza. I had thought of doing it for Mother's day but we went to Subway instead. They had a Mother's day special, foot longs for NAf 10. :)
