Kids mountian bike race

Rick Rennie will like this -- a mountain bike race for the kids. Brad rides road and mountain bikes, and volunteered to help with this event, and I tagged along. There's an adult race Sunday morning. Normally there are a lot more kids, but most of them also swim competitively, and were on the neighboring island of Curacao (cur-a-SAUW), so there were only 4 today. The kid in the front in both shots was in the lead until he had a puncture. There are thorns and cacti all over here, so you MUST use Slime in your tubes. The course was partly on 2-track and partly on singletrack.

  1. Hey Dean, thanks so much for the race coverage!
Try to find out if the riders use tubeless tire and sealant systems or just the Slime.

It sounds like you will be in top shape when
(if) you return. We are praying that your vacation, er, missionary trip will be helpful and fulfilling.

    Later, Rick

  2. The one kid in the red/white helmet had a schnazzy Cannondale with the Lefty fork. He may have had fancier tires. But I know the guy who got the flat had regular tubes and tires, and I don't think he had Slime in them.
